Teaching Your Dog To Show Affection

There are human beings that are just not able to show affection. That means that lessons for pets to show affection is not something that should be frowned upon. Of course your pet will love you if you are the person looking after it.

Dogs are particularly friendly but this article gives you some tips on how to make it easier for them to demonstrate their affection for you.

Get emotions into the behaviour of your dog

Animals may have emotions but it is not always easy to tell the difference. You can see that a dog is angry but it might be difficult to see that it is nonchalant. It is these subtle differences that separate human beings from the rest of the animal kingdom. You need to understand the various distinctions that separate the various elements within the animal kingdom in order to train your pet effectively.

You also have to be sympathetic to the limitations that the pet faces when it is trying to learn some of the ambitious routines that you have in store for it. The pet learns by associating verbal commands with a physical action. That is when it will begin to do these things automatically such that some people may even begin to forget that it is a pet that they are dealing with.

Patience is a virtue when you are trying to teach your pet to show emotions. In the scaling methodology these tricks would be considered intermediate as a medium but in most cases they are actually quite complex. For example you might train your dog to show shame. This is achieved by letting it cover its eyes with one paw upon a certain command.

This does not mean that the dog is actually feeling shame. In fact it could be very happy at the time. It is merely displaying that trait. The learning process will add interest to the life of the pet and will help you to interact with your pet on an extended basis. These are the things that make pet ownership a worthwhile venture.

Do not expect too much from the pet

Remember that regardless of the amount of training that you have put in place, this is still a pet. You cannot expect it to exercise judgement or to have independent through. It will display the emotion once you play the trigger. The dog requires that you are absolutely consistent in the way that you do things.

If you begin to deviate then the whole program will wind down to an embarrassing halt. The wonderfully clever dogs that you see on television shows have been trained for years. It is an ongoing process that will take a lot of effort on the part of the pet owner. They need to be in a position to deal with these things.

In this article we have looked at some of the ways in which you can train your pet to show emotion. At the same time you have to be mindful of the difficulties that can arise if you do not treat your pet well or expect too much from it in terms of judgement.
